Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 23, 2026

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following personal information when you use the Tappy app and device:

  • Name and phone number (for account creation and verification)
  • Medication reminder schedules (times you set in the app)
  • Check-in timestamps (when you confirm taking medication)
  • Trusted contact ("buddy") information (name and phone number) that you provide
  • Device information (button battery level, connection status)
  • Timezone and location data (for accurate reminder scheduling)

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To send medication reminder notifications
  • To alert your designated buddy contact if you miss a check-in
  • To operate the physical Tappy button device
  • To provide emergency alert functionality
  • To improve our services

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your mobile phone number, messaging consent, and opt-in data will not be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share information only as follows:

  • With your designated buddy contact — only missed check-in alerts and all-clear confirmations
  • With service providers (Twilio for SMS and calls, Firebase for data storage) solely to operate the service
  • If required by law or to protect safety

4. SMS/Text Messaging Program

Program Name: Tappy Medication Reminders

Message Types: Missed check-in alerts to users; a one-time phone verification passcode during account setup; and, for trusted contacts who opt in, a single opt-in invitation followed by missed check-in alerts, all-clear confirmations, and urgent alerts if the user triggers the emergency button. Daily reminders are delivered as app notifications, not SMS.

Message Frequency: Users receive at most 3 messages per day, and none on days they check in on time. Trusted contacts receive at most 6 missed check-in messages per day; emergency alerts are sent only if the user triggers the emergency button. On a typical day, both receive zero.

Message and Data Rates: Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details.

Opt-In: Receiving texts is an optional choice made in the Tappy app. During setup (or later in Settings), users are shown the full program disclosure and choose yes or no; declining does not limit the service. The one-time verification passcode is separate from this choice. Trusted contacts opt in for themselves: they receive a single invitation text and alerts begin only if they reply YES.

Opt-Out: You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message or by turning text messages off in the app's Settings, which is honored the same way. After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further SMS will be sent.

Help: Reply HELP to any message for support information, or contact us at hello@kithhealth.org.

Carriers: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No Sharing for Marketing: Consent to receive messages is not a condition of purchase. Your phone number and SMS opt-in consent will never be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers in the United States. We use encryption in transit (TLS) and access controls to protect your information.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

7. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us at hello@kithhealth.org.

8. Children's Privacy

Tappy is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email.
